Power and Partnerships: Centering Equity in Global Development and Humanitarian Programs
The Gender Plus Summit is an inclusive thought leadership event that brings together diverse development and humanitarian stakeholders around the world to collectively learn about key gender and social inclusion challenges and opportunities. Summit principles include prioritizing the experiences, evidence and voices of underrepresented or marginalized people living in the Global South; making sessions accessible to people of all disabilities and abilities; taking equitable approaches to address harmful and unfair power dynamics; and using a strengths-based lens to identify tangible solutions and available resources.

Gender 360 Summit 2018
The Gender 360 Summit 2018 explored the intersections of education, health, economic empowerment and gender-based violence among girls, boys, and youth with diverse gender identities. We considered these issues in the context of Positive Girl and Boy Development. Positive Girl Development recognizes the intertwined vulnerabilities that girls and young women face, and their strengths, needs and opportunities at different life stages. Positive Boy Development emphasizes the unique strengths, needs, and challenges of boys and young men.
The Summit highlighted innovative approaches and produced action-oriented recommendations on how positive girl and boy development – across gender identity, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, and disability –can strengthen development outcomes.

Thursday, June 11th marked the second annual Gender 360 Summit hosted by FHI 360. More than 250 gender and development professionals attended the summit, which boasted an impressive list of speakers and panelists, including USAID Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment Susan Markham; Catherine Russell, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues at the Department of State; and Andrea Bertone, Director of the Gender Department at FHI 360. Panel discussions included the right approaches to achieving gender equality, the role of donors in advancing a gender equality agenda, and featured short talks about engaging boys and men in the discussion and targeting hard to reach populations.

Gender Mainstreaming & Programmatic Gender Integration
The first Gender 360 Summit explored critical intersections between organizational gender mainstreaming and programmatic gender integration. It discussed how female empowerment contributes to gender equality, and examined the role of donors in setting expectations for gender integration.
